"Magic Bullets" Fight Disease and Hunger in Kenya

Through a major initiative to make anti-parasite medication available in Kenya, Medical Mission International is giving 1.3 million hungry children the ability to utilize the nutrients they receive. The primary MMI MedNet Programme Partner in this effort is World Concern, along with major international drug companies that produce the wonder drugs Albendazole and Mebendazole.

Anemia and malnutrition are killers in the third world, and MMI’s goal through this programme is to save the lives of hungry children and pregnant mothers by eliminating the secret killers hidden in their bodies. These anti-parasite, or “magic bullet” drugs will save countless lives by helping little bodies fight diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and a host of other infections. MMI's Programme Partner Kenya provides single dose de-worming medication to health agencies across the country.

A World Health organisation (WHO) study in Kenya reveals that £2,6 million in food and nutrients is unabsorbed and wasted by parasite-infested children every year.  In many developing countries, parasites use more than 20% of the calories consumed by humans. The result is serious loss of nourishment leading to disease and death, especially for the poor who cannot afford simple anti-parasite drugs.

Sponsors are needed to help provide healing drugs to starving children in Africa.  It takes only £10 to supply enough drugs to free 150 children from parasites for a year. De-worming medication is the most cost-effective intervention in the promotion of good health.
