Humanitarian Situation
Sudan has struggled with internal conflict since gaining its independence in 1956. Fighting between the north and south subsided in late 2003 as the sides came close to a peace agreement, but in early 2004 violence resurged in Sudan’s western region of Darfur.
Currently, as many as 70.000 people have been killed and more than 1.1 million have been displaced. The majority of families have remained in Darfur and are either living in camps, with relatives or in public spaces in the local communities. The United Nations has described Darfur’s conflict as “ the world worst
humanitarian crisis”.
Drought, crippling debt and rising food prices have left 30 million people facing major food shortages. Hunger has left people weak and vulnerable to disease and infection – medical supplies are desperately needed. Without immediate help many people may die.

Feeding stations in Um Tagouk Town and Azirni
Goal
Medical Mission International and her partners provide every month healthy food, clean water, medicines and antibiotic.
Almost 80% of the population does not have access to clean water … waterborne illnesses – such as diarrheal disease, skin and eye infections, and Guinea worms- ravage the bodies of the already skeletal, fragile children.
Supplementary feeding stations have been established to feed the children and provide them with medicines, re-hydration packs and survival food rations.
